Ash Platt Wood

Hello. My name is Charlie, and I’m one of the ministers at Bessels Green Baptist Church, the new owners of Ash Platt Wood. As a church, we want to care for this beautiful woodland so it can flourish, welcoming everyone who visits. We’re thrilled to imagine how this can one day become a beautiful, thriving place for the entire community to enjoy.

We know many of us have used the bike jumps here and experienced the benefits of cycling. We share your love for outdoor activity—some of us in the church enjoy biking ourselves! That’s why, from the beginning, we worked hard to find a way to keep some form of jumps. Sadly, after speaking with insurers and assessing safety requirements, we’ve found it just isn’t possible, as insurers view these jumps as too high-risk. It leaves us with no choice but to remove them and kindly ask that they not be rebuilt. We understand this will be disappointing to some, and we genuinely wish the outcome could have been different, but it is not possible.

We do hope you’ll stay connected and involved with us as we work to restore Ash Platt Wood. The more we work together—whether helping clear debris and rubbish or simply respecting the wood’s natural beauty—the more this place will thrive for everyone to enjoy.

If you have any comments or questions, I’d love to hear from you. You can contact me at info@bgbc.co.uk. Thank you for your understanding and for supporting our goal of making Ash Platt Wood a safe, welcoming space for the whole community.

Yours faithfully,
Charlie Ingram
